Smoot’s Farm

The Smoot family are the third owners of the land since 1821. The original home burned in 1889 and the current folk victorian farmhouse was built in the same year and in the same location of the other house. The Smoot's purchased the property in 1984. Prior to then it was owned by the Moye's (1821-1932) and then the Ledbetter's (1932-1984). Joann and Fred Smoot's youngest daughter Julie and her husband Barry are the current owners of the farmhouse and front acreage. Julie has enjoyed gardening for years and Barry is pretty handy in a woodworking shop too! So it was only natural that they have a farm stand to share the fruits of their labor. Julie's mom was an antique dealer for many years and there are plans to offer assorted antiques and collectibles that you can shop on the website online and setup a pick up date and time to pick up your items in the farm stand. As for the farm stand, a lot is seasonal but there are daily offerings which includes a nice selection houseplants, succulents, cacti, seeds, birdhouses and other assorted gifts and handmade items.

Outside the farm stand is or will be a collection of bearded iris, day lilies, hosta, canna lilies and other perennial bulbs and plants. (We are currently working on potting plants - some of the iris are available now but the other will be later this summer/fall.)

In season and when availability allows we will also offer our fresh free range eggs, honey and bee products from our own apiary, pecans, pecan cracking as a service, seasonal berries, fruit and produce from our garden!
