The grancy greybeard, also known as the American fringetree (Chionanthus virginicus), is a small, deciduous native tree known for its delicate, fragrant clusters of white flowers that bloom in late spring. The common name refers to these "fringe-like" flowers that hang in a cascade, resembling the white beard of an old man.
A mature height of 12 to 20 feet, with a similar spread. It can be grown as a single-trunk tree or as a multi-stemmed shrub.
