The image is a vintage postcard featuring the Astoria–Megler Bridge, which spans the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington.
The steel cantilever through truss bridge connects Astoria, Oregon, and Point Ellice, Washington.
Opened in 1966, it is the final link in U.S. Route 101, the Pacific Coast Highway, between Mexico and Canada.
At 4.1 miles (6.5 km) long, it is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
The bridge has a clearance of 196 feet (60 m) at high tide, allowing large ships like the one pictured to pass underneath.
