____________
This vintage postcard captures the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, New Jersey, circa 1905.
The lighthouse, built in 1857, is New Jersey's tallest, standing at 171 feet.
It is the third tallest masonry lighthouse in the United States.
The tower retains its original first-order Fresnel lens, which was crafted in France.
At the time this postcard was produced, the lighthouse was an active aid to navigation, with its powerful beacon visible for 20 nautical miles.
