The image is a vintage postcard featuring the High School and Robert Burns Monument in Barre, Vermont. The monument honors the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.
The monument was erected in 1899 by Scottish immigrants who settled in Barre to work in the granite quarries.
It was carved from local Barre granite by sculptor J. Massey Rhind.
The statue depicts Burns bare-headed, with rolled-up sleeves and his coat over his arm, as if returning from a day of plowing.
The pedestal features detailed relief panels, including scenes from Burns's poetry like "The Cotter" and "Tam O' Shanter".
The monument is located on the grounds of what is now the Vermont History Center.
