This is a postcard image of the east front of Monticello, the historic plantation home of Thomas Jefferson.
Monticello was the primary residence of Thomas Jefferson, the third U.S. President and author of the Declaration of Independence.
Jefferson designed and built the house over a forty-year period, with the second version largely completed in 1809.
It is the only home in the U.S. recognized by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site.
The house is located near Charlottesville, Virginia.
