It was designed by Atlanta architect Walter T. Downing and officially opened on April 1, 1908.
The hotel was a popular and important stop for many notable figures, including presidents William Howard Taft and Warren G. Harding, and union leader Jimmy Hoffa.
The building is still standing today, though it has been converted into apartments and is now known as Patten Towers.
