The image is a vintage postcard of the Detroit Public Library's main building in Michigan.
The building was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie as a gift to the city in 1912.
It was designed by architect Cass Gilbert, known for its grand architecture and symmetrical facades of white Vermont marble.
The main library is located in Detroit's Cultural Center Historic District, adjacent to Wayne State University and across from the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The postcard itself is a hand-colored collotype print, estimated to be from the period of approximately 1930 to 1945.
