________

This vintage postcard depicts the Grave of Myles Standish in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
The Myles Standish Burial Ground is considered the oldest continuously maintained cemetery in the United States, established around 1638.
Myles Standish (c. 1584–1656) was a military officer who sailed on the Mayflower and became a leading figure in the defense of Plymouth Colony.
His final resting place was initially unmarked but was discovered during research in the late 19th century.
The four cannons surrounding the grave were a gift to the town from the U.S. Navy in the mid-1950s.
Other notable Mayflower passengers, including John and Priscilla Alden, are also buried here.
