It was an acclaimed inspirational attraction that opened in 1960 and was known as "America's #1 religious attraction".
The museum featured life-size figures in realistic scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.
The property was sold in 2008, closed temporarily, and then reopened by former employees under the name "Christ in the Smokies Museum & Gardens".
The attraction closed its doors at that location after 60 years of business in January 2021 and has since reopened in Pigeon Forge.
