This image captures the Kansas City Southern Railway's "Southern Belle" passenger train, circa 1959. The train is led by locomotive E8A #26.
The "Southern Belle" was a named passenger train service that ran between Kansas City, Missouri, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
The train service operated from the 1940s until it was discontinued on November 3, 1969.
The photograph was taken in 1959, approximately a decade before the service ended.
The locomotive in the photo, KCS E8A #26, was also photographed at Shreveport Union Station around 1967.
