This image is a vintage postcard of the Confederate Monument in Montgomery, Alabama.
The monument is located on the grounds of the Alabama State Capitol.
It stands 88 feet high and was built to honor Alabama's more than 122,000 Confederate veterans of the Civil War.
Fundraising for the monument began in 1865, largely led by the Ladies Memorial Association (LMA) of Montgomery.
The monument was established and dedicated on December 7, 1898.
