The image is a postcard of the Oak Alley Plantation, a historic site located in Vacherie, Louisiana.
It is a National Historic Landmark named for its prominent feature: a quarter-mile long alley of 28 giant live oak trees, some over 250 years old, that lead to the main house.
The house, originally named Bon Séjour (pleasant sojourn), was built in 1839.
The site is dedicated to preserving and interpreting its history as a sugar plantation, including the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked there.
It has appeared in numerous films and is a popular tourist destination offering tours and exhibits.
