It was designed by architect Cass Gilbert and financed entirely in cash by Frank W. Woolworth.
The Gothic-style skyscraper is a famous Manhattan landmark, often referred to as the "Cathedral of Commerce".
The tower floors are now being transformed into luxury residences.
