This image is a vintage postcard of downtown Palmer, Alaska.
Palmer is a city located in the Matanuska Valley, about 42 miles northeast of Anchorage.
Unlike many Alaskan towns founded on gold mining, Palmer's history is rooted in agriculture, established as a farming community during the Great Depression as part of the New Deal's Matanuska Colony Project.
The city has preserved much of its historic charm, with an old-fashioned "Main Street" featuring shops and eateries.
The area is framed by the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains and is known for the Alaska State Fair, which features giant produce exhibits.
