This image is a vintage postcard of the entrance to the Marineland of the Pacific oceanarium in Palos Verdes, California. The park operated from 1954 to 1987 and was a popular Southern California tourist attraction.
Marineland opened in August 1954 as the world's largest oceanarium.
It featured large aquatic tanks with three levels of underwater viewing, a hotel, and a restaurant.
The park was a significant destination, attracting over a million visitors annually by the mid-1950s.
Its popularity led to expansions, including dolphin shows, a large collection of walruses, and the iconic Sky Tower observation tower.
The park closed in 1987 after being acquired by the corporate owner of SeaWorld.
