The image is a vintage postcard featuring the Washoe County Courthouse in Reno, Nevada. The building, completed in 1911, is a significant example of Classical Revival architecture and played a notable role in the history of Nevada's divorce industry.
The courthouse was designed by the prominent Nevada architect Frederic J. DeLongchamps.
Due to Nevada's liberal divorce laws in the early 20th century, the courthouse became famous as a place where many people came to get a timely divorce.
Over 4,800 divorces were processed in northern Nevada in 1931 alone, most of them through this courthouse, making it an important part of the local economy.
The building is still in use today and looks nearly identical to how it appeared when it was first completed.
