The boulder is located at the head of Winter Street, near the Salem Common at Merritt Triangle.
It is a 58-ton granite boulder brought from Salem Neck in 1905 and includes a bronze tablet listing the regiment's 13 engagements.
A cannon is also part of the memorial enclosure.
