The image shows the ruins of the Mission San José de Tumacácori, located in the Tumacácori National Historical Park in southern Arizona.
The mission was established in January 1691 by Jesuit missionary Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, making it one of the oldest mission sites in Arizona.
The present church building, shown in the image, was begun around 1753 but was never fully finished.
The site is a cultural crossroads where O'odham, Yaqui, Apache people, and Europeans interacted.
The mission was abandoned in the 1820s following the Mexican War of Independence and Apache raids.
The site became a National Monument in 1908 and a National Historical Park in 1990.
