_______
The image shows two Reading Company EMD FP7 diesel locomotives, specifically numbers 902 and 903, pulling a passenger train.
These were among the first six FP7 units ordered by the Reading Railroad in March 1950 to replace steam locomotives in passenger service.
The FP7 model was four feet longer than the F7 to accommodate a steam generator for heating passenger cars.
The two units were inherited by SEPTA in 1974 and operated in commuter service until they were retired in 1981.
After being purchased by the National Railway Historical Society in 1983, both locomotives were restored and are now preserved and occasionally operate on heritage railroads.
