________
The image is a postcard of the historic Orton Plantation house in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
Located beside the Cape Fear River, the original structure was built in 1735 by Colonel Maurice Moore, making it one of the oldest buildings in the county.
The house was expanded in the 1840s in the Greek Revival style.
It was historically a major rice plantation and a near-perfect example of Southern antebellum architecture.
The plantation is now privately owned and is no longer open for public visits, though its gardens were a popular tourist attraction for many years.
